Dorothy Bass

On Sunday, February 26, Bethel welcomes speaker and writer Dorothy Bass.   Dorothy will preach at both services and lead our adult forum on the topic of Living Faith:  Practicing the Presence of God in Daily Life.  Come and hear how to live out your Christian faith with vitality and integrity in these changing times.

Dorothy Bass directs the Valparaiso Project on the Education and Formation of People in Faith (www.practicingourfaith.org), a Lilly Endowment project based at Valparaiso University.  She is the author of Receiving the Day: Christian Practices for Opening the Gift of Time and the editor of Practicing Our Faith: A Way of Life for a Searching People and several other books.  She is a member of Christ Lutheran Church (ELCA) in Valparaiso.

What will be your spiritual legacy? 

Presenter Judy Young, a nationally certified Legacy Writing Facilitator, will introduce partipants to the spiritual practice of legacy writing and use a variety of exercises to encourage the expression of beliefs, values and blessings to future generations. Legacy writing may lead you to write a Spiritual Ethical Will, an affirmation letter to a child or simply become a practice you continue to enjoy in private.  This is not a creative writing seminar, it is about heart work.   There will be free time in the afternoon to enjoy this beautiful setting by relax inside or hike/ski 5 miles of groomed trails.

Membership Matters – Sunday, Feb. 5, 12 – 1:30 pm in the Christian Life Center

You are invited to join the Bethel staff for pizza and an informative gathering about Bethel congregation, its mission and ministries, and our hopes and dreams for the future. You do not have to attend to join Bethel, but participation will help you decide if Bethel is the right congregation for you. Child care will be available.  All are welcome!

High School Seniors Stepping Stones Retreat

The second of three Senior Stepping Stones Retreats will be held from noon to 3 p.m. on Sunday, January 29.  High School Seniors and your parents, please join us for this time of conversation and preparation for graduation.  We’ll look back at the beginning of this important year and ahead at what you’ll want to be sure to include in the rest of your year.  Lunch will be provided.

Rock ‘N Faith

Join Pastor Charlie in the Sanctuary on Sundays between services on February 5, as we continue to exam and discuss popular music, the world, and faith.  If you’re looking for easy listening, youv’e probably come to the wrong place!

7th Graders create Bethel Advertisements!

As a fun and useful project,  the 7th grade Sunday School class has put together three separate video advertisements highlighting Bethel ministries – Bible, Arts, Music (BAM), Bethel Sunday School, and Bethel Bistro.  These advertisements were pre-released on Bethel’s Facebook sites, but now you can view them here!  Click on the links to view their work, and send them to others to inform and invite!
