Sunday School
Sunday School at Bethel Lutheran Church begins on the second Sunday after Labor Day each fall and ends on the Sunday before Memorial Day each spring with a break on the two Sundays over Christmas break and on Easter Sunday. Classes begin at 9:45 and end at 10:30 am. You may register students who are 3 years old (before September 1) through grade 12 for Sunday School by filling out the Children’s Ministry Registration Packet (age 3 - grade 5) or the Youth Ministry Registration Packet (grades 6-12). You may turn the packet in to the church office during the week or bring it to the Resource Room on a Sunday morning.
A nursery is provided for children who are not yet 3 years old prior to September 1 of each year.
Live BIG – Age 3 - Grade 1
Our age 3 - grade 1 classes use the Live BIG (Belief in God) curriculum published by Cokesbury. Supplemental online resources for home use are available at www.ilivebig.com. Classes for this age group are held in the East and Center Pods. Our age 3-4 classes begin each Sunday at 9:45 with a 15 minute musical opening in the East Pod. Our Kindergarten-Grade 1 classes end each week with a 15 minute musical closing in the same area.
Faith Quest – Grades 2 - 5
Our Grade 2 — 5 classes meet each week in the Center Pod. The morning opens with music and an introduction to the theme for the month. The students are then dismissed by grade to four different stations. The year is broken into 4 week units. Each unit focuses on one particular Bible story or theme. There are four stations in each unit and each grade moves to a different station each week. Stations can include cooking, storytelling, drama, science, recreation, video, and many others.
New Members and Visitors are always welcome. Students can register for Sunday School at any time by filling out a Children’s Ministry Registration Packet and returning it to the church office during the week or to the Resource Room on Sunday morning.
Special 2nd and 3rd Grade Classes
Each year our 2nd and 3rd grade Sunday School classes have a special four-week class with their parent(s).
In the fall, our 2nd graders and parent(s) learn "How to Use the Bible."
In February our 3rd graders and parent(s) study “Talking With God,” a curriculum on prayer.
Details will be sent to 2nd and 3rd grade families a few weeks prior to the beginning of each class.
During these four-week sessions, the class is taught by the Director of Children’s Ministries and our regular teachers for 2nd or 3rd graders have those four Sundays off.
