We are excited about our church community. We believe Bethel Lutheran Church is a place where we are called by Christ to care for you. If there is anything that makes our church special, it is the mutual love and support that we experience together. We share many different kinds of activities: worship, social service ministries, children’s and youth ministries, Bible study, fellowship and support group ministries. The common thread running throughout our many activities is our commitment to love Jesus Christ and to support and care for one another.
The only requirement for membership in a Christian congregation is Holy Baptism. If you are baptized, you are welcome to join this congregation. If you wish to be baptized, please call the church office to schedule a meeting with Pastor Tim.
Becoming a Member
Our membership process recognizes the leadership of the Holy Spirit in your decision regarding church membership. If the Spirit is leading you to join Bethel, you may do so at any time. Simply fill out the New Member Information Form and send it to the church office: Bethel Lutheran, 1321 North Avenue, Northfield, MN 55057.
Membership Matters Workshop
Several times each year we will offer a Membership Matters workshop to assist prospective members with their decision. Using a working-lunch format, this session (held after the second service) will provide you with information about Bethel congregation, its mission and ministries, and our hopes and dreams for the future. Several Staff members will be on hand with helpful information to share. While not required, participation in a Membership Matters event may help you decide if Bethel is the right congregation for you.
The next Membership Matters event is on Sunday, September 30, 2012, from noon to 1:30 pm in the Christian Life Center. Please join us our staff for an informal pizza lunch and conversation. All are welcome!
New Member Event
Twice each year we will recognize all who have joined the congregation since the last new member event with a public reception during worship and a fellowship meal to follow worship that day. Our next New Member Welcome Event is scheduled for Sunday, October 28, 2012 with lunch to follow in the Christian Life Center.
